Prof. Luca Ferrarini from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, Politecnico di Milano, in collaboration with the company Bono Energia, has registered a patent on a new predictive control scheme for industrial steam generators.

The patented scheme makes it possible to automatically control several variables, including the level of the liquid contained in the generator and the pressure of the steam produced, thus optimizing the machine operations. The invention is based on cascade control techniques and involves the use of an algorithm capable of predicting the behavior of steam pressure in the presence of quantization effects.

The technology patented by Prof. Ferrarini represents an optimal, cost-effective solution for the automated management of industrial steam generators, solving the inherent difficulties of previously proposed solutions and setting a new benchmark for future technological innovations in this field.
