PoliMOVE team, coordinated by Prof. Sergio Savaresi from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano, won the third edition of the Indy Autonomous Challenge which took place on November 11, 2022 at the iconic Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.

The competition – the first in the world reserved for autonomous vehicles – saw 21 teams of over 500 university students of 39 universities from 11 different countries compete against each other. Only 6 teams qualified to compete in the final challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway. Like all the other teams, PoliMOVE also participated in the race with a fully automated Dallara AV-21. The difference was made by AS.CAR.I, the artificial intelligence algorithm for autonomous driving developed by the Politecnico di Milano’s team, which allowed the vehicle to win the race and to avoid accidents despite adverse weather conditions.

Proud of the result achieved, the team wishes to express its gratitude to all those who, thanks to their support as sponsors, have made this extraordinary victory possible: MOVYON - Gruppo Autostrade per l’Italia, UnipolMove (Unipol Group), Streparava, MAN Truck & Bus Italia, Fluentis, Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence, e-Novia and VI-grade.
