IPSE-XR and Moovy, two projects which stems from the research activity of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, are among the winners of the 2022 edition of Switch2Product, the Innovation Challenge of Politecnico di Milano, PoliHub – Innovation Park & Startup Accelerator and Deloitte for innovative solutions, new technologies and business ideas from students, researchers, PhD students, professors and alumni of the Politecnico di Milano.

Both projects won a 30,000 euro grant in the Life Science & MedTech category, which will be used for prototyping and technological development activities, and were selected for an entrepreneurship acceleration program at PoliHub.

IPSE-XR is an Artificial Intelligence and Mixed Reality based solution boosting neurosurgeons’ ability to imagine, plan, simulate, and execute neurosurgical interventions.

The project team is made up of Maria Chiara Palumbo, Simone Saitta (PhD students in Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano) and Marco Schiariti (PhD executive and neurosurgeon at the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute) with the scientific advice of Prof. Paolo Ferroli (Head of Neurosurgery at the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute) and Prof. Alberto Redaelli (Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, Politecnico di Milano).

Moovy aims to create a new interactive tool for the rehabilitation and therapy of language and cognitive skills, dedicated to children and young adults.

The project team, coordinated by Eleonora Beccaluva (PhD student with scholarship co-financed by the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano and the Department of Psychology of the Milano-Bicocca University), is made up of Mathyas Giudici , Fabiano Riccardi (PhD students in Information Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano), Lukasz Moskwa, Francesco Di Gioia (research assistants at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering), Giulia Bettelli, Lucilla Guidotti (PhD students in Psychology, Linguistics and Cognitive Neuroscience at the Milano-Bicocca University), with the scientific advisory of Prof. Franca Garzotto (Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, Politecnico di Milano) and Prof. Fabrizio Arosio (Department of Psychology , Milan-Bicocca University).
