Circular Economy: The RITESSERE Project Kicks Off

The RITESSERE (Silk Sericin Materials from Textile Industry By-Products) project has started with the goal of using the waste product from the treatment of raw silk, sericin, for the production of new materials and devices in the field of life sciences.

Approxima: Solutions for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery

On February 6, 2023 Approxima, MedTech spin-off of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano, announced the closing of a 1.6 million euros seed financing round to develop a minimally invasive tricuspid valve repair system based on a right ventricular reshaping approach to treat patients with tricuspid regurgitation.

GenoGra Wins the Startcup Lombardia

GenoGra is among the four winning projects of the 2022 edition of Startcup Lombardia, the competition promoted by Regione Lombardia to foster research and technological innovation and encourage the birth and development of new companies with high business potential. The project, winner in the Life Science & MedTech category, was awarded a prize of 25,000 euros.

A New Partnership with Luxottica for the Glasses of the Future

EssilorLuxottica and Politecnico di Milano have created the first ever joint research centre aimed at designing the smart glasses of the future, EssilorLuxottica Smart Eyewear Lab. The agreement, which involves an investment worth over 50 million euros, will encompass industrial research and experimental development of devices underlying a new generation of wearables which are capable of autonomous network connection.

TToP: A Replica of Human Tissue to Develop New Drugs

A new spin-off company of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano was founded from the TToP – True Tissue on Platform project. Born in 2018 as a master's thesis project in Biomedical Engineering, TToP is a versatile and modular microphysiological platform capable of replicating in vitro the complex physio-pathological conditions of human tissues. This technology makes the process of developing and testing new drugs and treatments more effective and less expensive, while minimizing the use of animal models.
